What Is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is an injectable biostimulant made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible material that works deep within the skin to stimulate collagen growth over time.
Unlike traditional dermal fillers, which provide immediate volume, Sculptra® focuses on long-term rejuvenation by improving your skin’s underlying structure.

How Sculptra® Works
After a series of treatments, typically 3 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, Sculptra® begins to work within the deep dermis to stimulate collagen regeneration. This newly produced collagen helps to volumize and reinforce the skin’s inner structure, gradually improving facial contours and softening deep wrinkles.
While results are not immediate, the changes build naturally over several months and can last more than two years for many patients.
What to Expect From the Procedure
Sculptra® injections are performed in-office and usually take 30–45 minutes. The injectable contains lidocaine for added comfort, and a topical numbing cream may also be applied beforehand.
After treatment, patients may experience mild swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection sites, which typically resolves within a few days. There is minimal downtime, and most patients return to normal activities the same day.
How Long Do Sculptra® Results Last?
Sculptra® is known for its longevity. While results appear gradually over several months, they can last up to 2 years or more.
Because Sculptra® works by stimulating your body’s own collagen, maintenance treatments are usually needed only once a year after your initial series.

How to Prepare for Sculptra®

- Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil for 7 days prior
- Avoid alcohol for 48 hours before treatment
- Consider taking arnica supplements
