Blepharoplasty (eyelid reshaping)

Blepharoplasty results in a refreshed, youthful look to the area above and below the eyes. Since the eyes are the focal point of visual contact, they are often the first to show signs of a tired, aged appearance. Just like other areas of the face and neck, the eyelids may exhibit wrinkles and bulges due to aging and hereditary factors. The excess skin can also interfere with vision.

The surgery to correct these saggy eyelids removes fat, excess skin and/or muscle from the upper and lower lid areas. This procedure can fix drooping eyelids and get rid of puffy bags that develop on or below the eyes.

Sometimes, a chemical peel or laser resurfacing is recommended in addition to surgery to further tighten the skin and improve the fine wrinkling of skin. This procedure is often combined with forehead or eyebrow lift surgery, because excess skin hanging from the upper eyelid may be due to the sagging of the eyebrow.
